Cooking With Coffee
26 July 2006I know about using coffee in making cakes but in cooking…hmm sound interesting. This article from Praguepost talked about coffee being used in preparing a wide range of food. Recipes are available in the web where coffee is one of the ingredients.
These are just some of the mouth watering food using coffee as an ingredient.
- Onion soup with espresso.
- Coffee-flavored meatballs
- Coffee-flavored chicken wings.
- Coffee risotto with orange.
- Lamb cutlets in coffee sauce.
It seems that a small amount of coffee adds depth to the food and the flavor is described as “smokiness” or “earthiness.” And coffee beside being used as a flavor had other uses too.
As it is acidic it is also use to tenderize meat. Well one thing to take note is, make sure the coffee is ground very fine when use. This is to prevent unpleasant grittiness when biting the food.
