Coffee to cost more
1 December 2006At least that’s what reported in India, but I guess it is going to be true for the rest of the world too since it’s from the same supply source. Apparently, there is a drop in harvest volume in Brazil, probably due to the drought ( I remembered I read some where) and the heavy rain that is alsp affecting the harvest in India.

Coffee to cost more as bean prices jump 10%- The Economic Times
technorati tag:Coffee price, coffee supplyBANGALORE: The main inputs in that cuppa coffee you’re holding have got more expensive. World bean prices are up 10% over the last six to eight weeks due to this year’s Brazil bumper crop being 12 % lower than trade projections. Bean prices are up 15% in India due to the pressure on end-of-season stocks, with weeks to go for the new-crop arrivals. Coffee-chicory mixes are also under price- pressure. Chicory prices are up 25% due to unseasonal rains in first the sowing and then the harvesting period in Gujarat.
