Coffee Protects

9 July 2006

Further good news for coffee drinkers. Apparently a research done found that even drinking a cup of coffee a day could help protect you from liver disease caused by alcohol.

Coffee drinkers ( one cup a day) are 20% less likely to have alcoholic cirrhosis than those who don’t drink any. And the protection increases with more cup of coffee a person drinks.

Any way this study is not to condone drinking of alcohol nor a recommendation to drink coffee as this statement by one of the researchers showed

This is not a recommendation to drink coffee. Nor is it a recommendation that the way to deal with heavy alcohol consumption is to drink more coffee. . . .

However I do hope that for none alcoholic and casual coffee drinkers, there should be similar protection provided too. Well more impetus for me to drink coffee as far as I am concerned :)
