Solar Coffee Roaster
25 July 2006A while back I was wondering if a solar roaster is available or not. I did a google with this phrase “Solar Coffee Roaster” and in the results there is an article in USAToday.com that caught my interest.
The article is about two brothers, Michael Hartkop and David, who had built a 12-foot solar coffee roaster. The solar roaster made use of mirrors (138 in all) to concentrate the solar rays to an oven where the coffee beans are roasted.
I think this is a great idea of utilizing the sun’s energy. It seems that the brothers’ solar roaster is the only one out there. So I guess solar powered roasted coffee is something unique too. How’s the quality of solar powered roaster coffee. Apparently is good too as one customer commented in USAToday.
Los Angeles resident Felicia Flick has been a Solar Roast customer since its start but admits buying the coffee can be difficult in winter.
“I haven’t been able to get many (coffee bags),” Flick said. “But I would recommend it to anybody. His coffee is (my) favorite coffee.”
So the only compliant is not enought of it to go round during the winter months. Isn’t that is always the case for all good things. There just isn’t enought of them
.
Anyway if you are wondering how the solar coffee roaster looks like. Well hope over to solarroast.blogspot.com. There are two photographs of the solar roaster in action.
And the website of the solar coffee roaster brothers is at www.solarroast.com. There yne can order prepacked solar roasted coffee beans.
