BANGALORE: The main inputs in that cuppa coffee you’re holding have got more expensive. World bean prices are up 10% over the last six to eight weeks due to this year’s Brazil bumper crop being 12 % lower than trade projections. Bean prices are up 15% in India due to the pressure on end-of-season stocks, with weeks to go for the new-crop arrivals. Coffee-chicory mixes are also under price- pressure. Chicory prices are up 25% due to unseasonal rains in first the sowing and then the harvesting period in Gujarat.
